Film Screening – The Window on Death Row (Harrisburg)

This documentary resists the true crime formula that saturates streamers and podcasts. It’s a story about faith, and what it means to hold onto love, forgiveness and humanity on U.S. death row, a place built to extinguish all three.

Joaquín José Martínez was once a supporter of capital punishment until, at 24, he was convicted of a double murder in Florida. He spent more than five years behind bars, three on death row.

The Window on Death Row asks urgent questions: Is there ever an ethical reason to kill someone? Is closure possible for the victims’ families? And how do we reconcile the contradiction that facing a death sentence, even an unjust one, can paradoxically lead to a second chance at life?

Pennsylvanians Against the Death Penalty is hosting this film screening in partnership with the film’s director, Linda Freund. The film is 38 minutes and will be followed by Q&A and discussion.
