It looks like Jimmy Dennis may finally be freed. Today, Senior US District Judge Anita Brody overturned his conviction and ordered his release. Unless, that is, the District Attorney’s office finds a way to retry him. Following a long string of cases involving faulty, or at the least,  questionable eyewitness identification, Mr. Dennis’ story should serve as another nail in the coffin of the death penalty. He has always maintained his innocence, even after 21 years on death row. That’s half of his life spent on death row.
The good folks over at the Pennsylvania Innocence Project believed him. They’ve worked tirelessly for justice and it looks like, this time, they won. Watch this space for updates on the events to follow.
Dear friends, Is Jimmy Dennis free at last? I see he is (was?) at Greene´s. Does he know Anthony Fletcher? Has he, or you, any ídeas what I can do for Anthony? Judge Young ordered a re-trial. The prosecutor objected. What is happening after that? Is the case in a limbo? We do not, in Sweden, understand the way USA is working. I hope to come into Contact with you or/and with Jimmy Dennis. Hopeto hear from you.
Yours
Ake Sintring, Idgrand 4, 31233 Laholm, Sweden.
Not yet. The Philadelphia DA’s office hasn’t announced yet whether they plan to retry him.
