Plato’s Rooster: The Ties That Bind American Medicine and Capital Punishment

February 5, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

February 5, 2016 | 12 noon | Room C2860, 2nd floor Biomedical Research Building, Penn State College of Medicine, 500 University Drive, Hershey, Penn State Hershey College of Medicine

At least since the death of Socrates in 399 BC, the practice and protocols of health care have been conflated with the execution of the death penalty. These entanglements go far beyond the easily recognized (and ethically condemned) participation of physicians at the execution event and involve the predictive, selective, and implementation stages of death sentences.

This event is free and open to the public. No preregistration required. For more information email Claire de Boer at: cdeboer@hmc.psu.edu or call the Department of Humanities at (717) 531-8778

Presented by: Spero Lappas, J.D., Ph.D.
Lecturer | The Pennsylvania State University, Harrisburg
Attorney | Of Counsel | Serratelli Schiffman & Brown, PC
